Well the new Cricut Gypsy has been released, and you can check out the official page here: http://www.provocraft.com/gypsy/
It looks pretty amazing, and it does everything the Cricut Design Studio software did and more. You can store all your cricut cartridges on this little device, and design anything you can imagine on the go and take it back to your cutting machine whenever to print them. Don’t worry about the Gypsy erasing your old cartridges, it won’t and you can still use them with your cutting machines like you always have. However you will only be able to load them onto one Cricut Gypsy and after that they will not allow you to put them on another. Save them for backup though, since if your gypsy dies you’ll need to reload them later!
If your Gypsy dies, you contact Provo Craft and they will send you a new one. If it is within the 12 month warranty then you probably will get it free. The new Gypsy will have the same serial number as your old one, and thus will be able to reload all your cartridges once again.
The new Cricut Gypsy comes preloaded with two cartridges you won’t find anywhere else: Gypsy Font cartridge and the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. One of the nicest features that we found on this device is its ability to search by keyword. You don’t have to hunt around in your Cartridge manuals or use key overlays anymore, it’s all stored on the hard drive and easily accessible.
There are three buttons on the Gypsy. The round button on the right turns it on and serves as a menu button. The top left button is a zoom feature, you push it and it will let you zoom in on your design. The bottom left button is a pan feature, pushing it you can move around the design mat with ease.
Very soon Provo Craft will be releasing more software and updates the they Gypsy, so who knows what features and designs will be coming in the near future! Already when you register your device online you will get a photo app that lets you download and view your photos on the Gypsy.
Also there will be plenty of Gypsy Accessories like pretty skins and covers, screen protectors, different colored styluses and neck lanyards. You will be able to customize your Gypsy to be as unique as you are!
Retailing at just under $300, we’ll see how the market responds to this new arts and crafts toy.
