You are going to quickly fall in love with the Cricut Design Studio. It works with both the Cricut Expression and the original Cricut Machine. Both have a USB port on the back, that up until now we didn’t know what it was for! Well, the new software lets you plug that USB port into your computer and experience a whole new dimension of design possibilities. Just imagine what you could do with printing custom designed photo wedding invitations for that next special event! It’s simple to use, every bit as intuitive as the machines are, and you don’t have to know a ton about computers to get it to work!
Unfortunately you can’t design your own original works of art yet. Also the software will not work on a Mac, only Windows XP and Vista. But the Cricut Design Studio does allow you to mix and match images from existing Cricut cartridges and put them together into any way you can imagine. You can create letters and words with shapes, change the size of the images and even stretch or squish them as you please. With a little creativity the possibilities are endless!
Once you have your design just right just push the button and watch your machine go to work. It will ask you for the cartridges in the order that you used them. Just insert them and it does the rest. If you absolutely loved the design you can save it into a file to share with all your friends or put it on your blog. There are plenty of scrapbooking blogs out there where people just like you share their original creations.
Since the Design Studio has a database of all the images available from Provo Craft, you can see them all with the click of a button and decide if the whole cartridge is worth buying or not. It’s a great way to preview what you get. If you are smart and have friends who also have Cricut machines, then you might want to start a pool or cartridges that you all share to spread the expense around.
Remember, the only limit with the Cricut Design Studio is your imagination!
