Obsessed With Scrapbooking has released some Cricut Gypsy video guides on the internet, and we wanted to share them with you here. This video guide shows you how to weld with the cricut gypsy. It's really not very hard, and is very similar to how it is done in Design Studio, but perhaps some of the features are in different places, so this guide helps you weld with the Gypsy very easily.

To start there are six options on the main menu:

• New
• Open
• Open as Template
• Update Cricut
• Delete File
• Link Cartridge

Open a new project and select a 12x12 Mat. You will have a blank mat with a blue line on it. The blue line indicates where the cursor is. Anything you type will come out at that spot. Touch screen to move cursor to the upper left corner so you have plenty of room to start.

Push the bottom left button to go over to cartridge section. Scroll through your cartridges tell you find the cartridge you want to use. In this video example they are using the Doodle Charm Cricut cartridge. You'll notice she also has the all new Dinosaur Tracks Cricut Cardtridge on her Gypsy as well! This is an awesome cartridge for decorating your boys rooms and parties.

Type in what you want and enter it onto the mat. You can press top left button to zoom in and press and hold the bottom left button and use your stylus to scroll around so you center your text on the screen. Remember that each square is one inch. You can increase and decrease the size with the small and large bubble on the lower right side.

Highlight a letter and move it over tell it overlaps the letter next to it a little with the arrow keys. Click the advanced tab then click the weld button (star circle diamond). Click the letter to weld it, then click the next letter and push weld again, repeat as many times as you need to weld the whole group together. To test you can push the eyeball to see if everything is welded together (push again to toggle off). If everything is red on the welded word, then you have succeeded!

Kerning is another way you can weld on the Gypsy. In the advanced tab you can enter in manual numbers to move the letters together exactly and mathematically so that they all overlap each other again. Then just hit the weld button for each letter and the letters are welded together again.

We are excited that on the 24th of September the Cricut Gypsy is going to be launched on the HSN network at 12 AM Eastern Standard Time. Are you as excited as we are? This world exclusive is going to give us the chance to be the first to own one of these super cool handheld gadgets. Apparently we are no longer called scrappers if we use Provo Crafts Cricut products, we are now "swarms." Sounds a little less glamorous... but I'm ok with it as long as I get my hands on one of these Gypsys!

As part of the launch, HSN is packaging the Gypsy with a special super secret bundle of goodies. They won't tell us what is in it, but we are hoping for bonus cartridges and bonus Cricut accessories like the Gypsy sleeves and colored gypsy stylus and lanyard. There was a few available on Ebay a while ago, but they seem to have disappeared, hopefully they will be coming back soon! Tune in to HSN to be the first to get your hands on the new Cricut Gypsy!

Provo Craft is running a number of promotions for their new Cricut Gypsy that we thought our readers would like to be aware of. Starting September 1st there is going to be a “Gypsy Ticket” promotion, kind of like the Golden Ticket in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Well the new Cricut Gypsy has been released, and you can check out the official page here: http://www.provocraft.com/gypsy/

It looks pretty amazing, and it does everything the Cricut Design Studio software did and more. You can store all your cricut cartridges on this little device, and design anything you can imagine on the go and take it back to your cutting machine whenever to print them. Don’t worry about the Gypsy erasing your old cartridges, it won’t and you can still use them with your cutting machines like you always have. However you will only be able to load them onto one Cricut Gypsy and after that they will not allow you to put them on another. Save them for backup though, since if your gypsy dies you’ll need to reload them later!

If your Gypsy dies, you contact Provo Craft and they will send you a new one. If it is within the 12 month warranty then you probably will get it free. The new Gypsy will have the same serial number as your old one, and thus will be able to reload all your cartridges once again.

The new Cricut Gypsy comes preloaded with two cartridges you won’t find anywhere else: Gypsy Font cartridge and the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. One of the nicest features that we found on this device is its ability to search by keyword. You don’t have to hunt around in your Cartridge manuals or use key overlays anymore, it’s all stored on the hard drive and easily accessible.

There are three buttons on the Gypsy. The round button on the right turns it on and serves as a menu button. The top left button is a zoom feature, you push it and it will let you zoom in on your design. The bottom left button is a pan feature, pushing it you can move around the design mat with ease.

Very soon Provo Craft will be releasing more software and updates the they Gypsy, so who knows what features and designs will be coming in the near future! Already when you register your device online you will get a photo app that lets you download and view your photos on the Gypsy.

Also there will be plenty of Gypsy Accessories like pretty skins and covers, screen protectors, different colored styluses and neck lanyards. You will be able to customize your Gypsy to be as unique as you are!

Retailing at just under $300, we’ll see how the market responds to this new arts and crafts toy. Provo Craft New Cricut Gypsy Revealed!

So, we've all been wondering what was in the mystery box that ProvoCraft has been tantalizing us with. Turns out it is an exciting new hand held device called the Cricut Gypsy! This handheld device lets you scrapbook on the run (literally if you are one of the rouge scrappers who haven't returned their promo copy of the Gypsy...). It also lets you store and manage all your Cricut cartridges, designs and photos in one single place.

However, many are concerned as well as excited due to some measures ProvoCraft is taking to make sure you only ever have one copy of the Cricut Cartridge... it seems once you load your Cricut cartridge onto your Gypsy, the cartridge itself is totally erased! Therefore you only ever have one single copy of any given cartridge. This causes understandable consternation with many scrappers who share, borrow, and trade their cartridges on a regular basis. Also, it goes without saying that electronic devices tend to... crash and burn. At $50 a pop, loosing your collection of Cricut cartridges could be a very large hit in the wallet.

The device also seems to connect to the internet and gives you a central place where you can download and store your photos and designs online as well. Perhaps it will also upload each Cricut cartridge you download onto it so that if your Gypsy should ever crash, you can still get access to the cartridges again and you haven't lost everything. That seems like a reasonable solution to the problem.

Well, in case you haven't noticed yet, the guys down at Provo Craft have a new gizmo cooking up in their labs. You better believe that it will be pretty awesome once it comes out if their previous releases prove anything! July 27th is the big day for the release, and each day they are releasing more and more clues as to what this device is. What do you think this new Provo Craft Cricut mystery device is? Well, below are the clues we have so far, and our thoughts on what each of them reveal. Please feel free to pitch in and share your thoughts and ideas!

• This thing's touchy but it never gets mad
Clearly the new Provo Craft surprise is going to be a pocket handheld device with some kind of touch screen on it. Possibly some kind of Cricut netbook or something.

• Roam if you want to, roam around the world
Roam...ing? As in a phone? Could this device be Provo Craft's answer to the iPhone?

• You may have to power down during takeoff
More proof that this device just might be a phone, or at least have some kind of wi fi internet access.

• Colors, shapes, designs. Oh, My!
Of course this handheld device is going to let you do some sort of art work via its touch screen.

• Now you can create on the go, anywhere
Possibly it will hook up to the Cricut in some way so you can design your own custom art on the go and get it printed by your machine when you get home.

• Carry all your cartridges at once!
Hmm... how is it going to know what cartridges you already own? Possibly because you will download them off the internet instead of buying the actual physical cartridges? Yet more evidence that this device will hook up to your Cricut in some way.

• Power it on and you're on a design roadtrip
Hopefully it doesn't have the same overheating issues that the new iphone 3GS is having...

• The crop will be redefined
Crop... as in cropping a picture? Not sure what to make of this one...

• This thing knows how to easily locate all your art
Gotta have internet access then, and probably some kind of online storage space for you to store and display to your friends. Do I smell an online Cricut Social Network Community sponsored by Provo Craft?

Again, more hinting towards custom Cricut designs and shapes. This has been many people's greatest complaint about their Expression machines: the lack of the ability to create customized die cuts.

Because it's a touch screen!

Hmm... at first I thought this was just because it was handheld like an iPhone... but then I got to thinking about how cool it would be if they actually used your whole hand as part of the device. Like a Cricut glove... Maybe that's just from watching too much science fiction lately.

Ya ya ya, so's my iPhone. I'm not saying you guys at Cricut HQ can't beat that, just saying you've got a lot to live up to.
